Fasrad Scanner — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 23, 2026
Overview
Fasrad Scanner is a browser extension that lets your Fasrad agent help you with what you read on the web. It clips pages to Notes, scans contact details into your CRM, records a private history of the pages you spend time on, and captures search queries so your agent has enough context to be useful. This policy explains what the extension collects, when it's sent to fasrad.com, and the controls you have.
What the extension collects automatically
While the extension is connected and tracking is enabled, it collects the following in the background — no click required:
- Page visits — URL, page title, and how long the tab was focused and you were not idle (dwell time). Only visits with at least 20 seconds of active dwell are recorded. Browser-internal pages (chrome://, about:, file://, extension pages, data: URLs) are never recorded.
- Search queries — when you search on Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo, the extension reads the query from the search URL and records it alongside the search engine name.
- Article and PDF content — for pages you spend at least 60 seconds reading, the extension may capture the article text (via Mozilla Readability) or, for PDFs, the full document bytes. This uses the authenticated session in your browser tab so paywalled or login-gated content you're already viewing can be saved for your agent to reference.
All of the above can be turned off at any time from the extension's Settings tab. See Your controls below.
What the extension collects when you click
When you open the extension popup and save something:
- Notes — the article title, extracted content (HTML), source URL, notebook selection, and tags you apply.
- Contacts — extracted contact fields (name, email, phone, company, title, address, social links, etc.) from the page, plus any edits, group, and tags you apply.
- Tasks — the free-text instruction you type for your agent, together with the page URL and title for context.
Where data goes
All data is transmitted over HTTPS to fasrad.com and stored in your account there. Authentication uses a per-agent connection token you generate in your Fasrad settings. No data is sent to any third party, analytics service, or advertising network.
Data stored inside the browser
The extension keeps the following in chrome.storage:
- Your connection token (used to authenticate API calls).
- A cache of your notebooks and tags for faster popup load.
- Your last-used notebook and tab preference.
- Short-lived per-tab state for dwell tracking (URL, title, accumulated focused time) and a queue of visit/search records waiting to be uploaded. Cleared when the browser shuts down.
- A 24-hour deduplication map of URLs already captured, so the same article isn't re-uploaded.
Disconnecting the extension, or removing it, clears this local state.
Your controls
- Track site visits — master switch for passive page-visit tracking, article/PDF capture, and the heartbeat ping. When off, the extension sends nothing automatically; only click-driven actions (saving a note, scanning a contact, asking your agent something) still work.
- Track searches — separate switch for search-query capture. Mirrors the "Share searches with your agent" setting on the Fasrad new-tab page; changing one changes the other.
- Forget all history — deletes every tracked visit and search from your Fasrad account. This is irreversible.
- Disconnect / uninstall — revokes the token and clears the extension's local storage.
Retention
Tracked visits and searches are retained in your Fasrad account until you delete them (via "Forget all history") or delete your account. Captured article and PDF content is stored as files in your account and can be deleted individually from the Fasrad web app.
Permissions
- activeTab, tabs, scripting — read the current page's URL, title, and (for clips and captures) content.
- webNavigation — detect when tabs navigate, so visits and searches can be recorded.
- idle — pause dwell-time accounting when you're away from the keyboard, so visits you aren't actually reading aren't counted.
- alarms — wake the background service worker on a fixed schedule to upload pending records.
- storage — store the connection token, caches, and pending upload queue locally.
- host_permissions (<all_urls>) — required because clips, captures, and tracking can apply to any site you visit.
Third-party services
Fasrad Scanner does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or data-sharing services. The extension communicates exclusively with fasrad.com. Favicons displayed in the popup are fetched directly from Google's public favicon service (s2/favicons) — no data about you is sent, only the hostname whose favicon is displayed.
Security
All communication with fasrad.com uses HTTPS. Your connection token is stored in chrome.storage.sync and transmitted only in the Authorization header — never exposed to web pages or third parties.
Children
Fasrad Scanner is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's changelog and the "Last updated" date above.
